Over the past years sailing has proven to be a winning way to communicate and the 2005 Cranfield competition securely reinforced the conviction that sailing is a sport with the ability to attract attention and stir great public emotion. The sailing boat life is a strong metaphor of the company's life: sailing is a sport in which leadership, communication, motivation, problem solving and decision-making are essential for success! Just like in the business environment, on the boat is very important to define the position of members in order to get the best coordination between them.
Moreover, sailing is a sport with a dynamic image, linked to such values as freedom and competition, but at the same time synonymous with the relaxation and leisure time associated with interactions with nature. In fact, sailing events are almost always located in prestigious places, famous for their beauty such as Portofino, Capri, and St. Tropez, for example. Furthermore sailing is a sport that combines people with one common goal and passion: "Success".
Through participating in the races, the sponsor companies will obtain maximum visibility by promoting the company's brand, as associated with the high technology, competitive spirit and the elegance of sailing. The sailing events also offer many public relations opportunities for the Company.
The participation of top universities like Columbia, Cambridge, Oxford, INSEAD, LBS, etc. in the races and the serious interest of sponsors, render the sailing competitions as a unique chance of promotion for the companies that support the teams. The Promotion
1. Branding on the vessel and the equipment
For International Regattas and the Athens Global MBA cup in Athens the sponsor will be able to put his brand name on many visible areas on the vessel This can be done in the following ways:
- Main Sail Banner
- Spinnaker Banner
- Boom Banner
- Hull transfers
- Spray dodgers
2. Branded clothes
All members of the crew will be wearing clothes with the brand name of the sponsor.
3. Typed material in the University's area
Special posters will be placed in central places within the University.
4. Press releases in the Greek media
Prior to and after the event announcements will be made in the Greek media.. 2005's 1st place achievement was mentioned in several nationally distributed newspapers such as Kathimerini.
5. Professional Photographer
In most races there will be a professional photographer who is going to gather material from the crew and the vessel. The material obtained will also be offered to the sponsor.
6. The official website of the MBA INTERNATIONAL
The I-MBA website has been established as a meeting point for students, professors, businesses as well as for Greek and international organizations.
www.imba.aueb.gr is the source of information about the university community and all the activities related to it and will host and present the university's participation in such international events, with special reference about the sponsors' contribution!

7. Student networks
This year's class has 90 students, while the AUEB i-MBA Alumni, the department's Graduates Club is a very active students' Club that counts about 300 members. The AUEB i-MBA Alumni has its own communication tool, on the website www.i-mbalumni.com and up to now it has always participated in the organization of social events. The students as well as the department's graduates will be informed by a relevant announcement that will be sent by e-mail. (i.e. http://www.i-mbalumni.com/blog )
8. Presentation of the sponsoring company at the University
The Athens University of Economics and Business frequently hosts business representatives in an effort to closely observe and why not contribute also, to the formation of business trends. Within the frame of promoting new ideas and values that are connected with a sports event the sponsor will be able to make a presentation of itself in the university area. In that way students will get to know the company and the company will establish its brand name among the managers of tomorrow.
